John Owen – Project Manager
Responsible for overall project delivery of Prosiect Slyri at Gelli Aur College Farm. John has been managing Gelli Aur farm for the last 24 years. The dairy enterprise at Gelli Aur consist of a herd of up to 600 cows with two distinct Spring and Autumn calving periods, with a focus on producing milk from forage. The farm is currently one of the Farming Connect Innovation Sites specialising on dairy production.
John is involved with several farming discussion groups and a guest speaker on the two herd systems and grass management on a regular basis. He sits on the Board of Trustees of the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and chairs the South West TB eradication Board. John worked with Power and Water to develop this exciting new slurry dewatering and nutrient recovery project and was successful in securing RDP funding for the project.
Lesley Griffith – Technical Officer for Prosiect Slyri
Has a degree in Agriculture and years of experience working on farms, teaching agriculture and working in the veterinary industry.
Her duties on Prosiect Slyri include developing a new website, updating and co-ordinating stakeholder meetings, social media and project specific news articles, understanding the treatment process and delivering relevant information to all people included or interested in the project.
Neil Nicholas –Research Officer for Prosiect Slyri & Project Technician for Power and Water
After University, he began his career working at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford as a research assistant. Then returned to Wales and trained as a science teacher.
Responsible for all day-to-day activities surrounding the Prosiect Slyri treatment build, installation and operation. On-going duties will be to develop most effective solutions through sample testing and application.
Ann Owen- Assistant Administrator
Ann has worked on finance and administration for Coleg Sir Gȃr Projects for the last 16 years and is responsible for all of the Prosiect Slyri finance and administration.
Gareth Morgan – Chief Operations Officer of Power and Water
Responsible for the day-to-day operations and the delivery of Prosiect Slyri by Power and Water, which was co-founded by his father Prof. Philip Morgan, who successfully developed the method and process for treating the slurry on behalf of Power & Water.
Gareth has a background in engineering and manufacturing in the aerospace, automotive and water utility sectors. Gareth has an extensive understanding of the production process, supply chain and design of conceptual prototypes into full-scale working products for Power & Water customers.
Alan Winch –Internal Project Manager
Accountable for all product and site specification, installation and procurement of all processes and equipment. With over 40 years’ experience in Engineering with a track record of delivering projects successfully, on time and within budget. A background in large water and effluent treatment plants and turnkey materials handling projects through for most of the UK major main contractors.
Experience and qualifications in Process, Civils, Structures, Mechanical, HV/LV Electrical and control systems. Involved with all elements of the in-house process and liaising direct with the Engineers at all levels through to Final Account settlement. Contracts Manager
